Game On

Well, I watched the debate last night. It was definitely enjoyable and I firmly believe that Barack won, by virtue of a tie, but it really makes me miss Bartlett. (And 2004 DNC Obama.) The debate really just didn't seem lively. I thought maybe Barack would get a bit edgy, when he mentioned that McCain likes to pretend that the war began in 2007, but I'm not sure if he really delivered that line as effectively as he could. There definitely wasn't a "Let's clear this up – 'unfunded mandate' is two words, not one big one" moment, but it was still fun to watch.

And my insomnia kicked in last night, keeping me up until almost 8:00 AM. And then putting me to sleep until 2:00 PM. Kudos.

OK, short entry, but I've got to get my day going.

It’s Getting Better

Hello, my readers. Thank you both for joining me. Sorry there has been a lack of updates, but I've been preoccupied with wanting to smash my head into a concrete wall. In other words, I've been sick. Annoyingly so. What's been even more fun is midterms this week. Except not really. Cognitive Psychology wasn't too bad, I think. Learning, however, was not fun. I realize that the questions were probably very easy, but I just completely blanked on it. Add to that the marathon headache and the fact that I already hate essay-based exams and you have a very bad morning, indeed.

After that, I came back to my room and slept all afternoon. And, lo and behold, I might actually be starting to feel better. Just in time for me study my ass off for my Neuroscience midterm. And read my ass off, to prepare for my presentation at the Psychiatry Fair.

I am, however, going to take tonight off and relax. Well, actually, there's a high probability that I'll watch the debate, so relaxation may be made impossible. Tomorrow, I do have a few errands to run. I desperately need new pillows, because the ones I have right now are making my neck hurt like nothing else. I also need to finally get things settled with my bank and get the long-awaited power adapter for my phone. And catch up on Narrative in Cinema. Frak.

Lunch: As a result of my sickness, I haven't really eaten much of anything, for the past week. Today was no different.

These Boots Are Gonna Walk All Over You

Finally had a good time at the gym, this morning. Actually found myself able to run my 2.25 km straight, with no stops. I'm choosing to believe that this was because I'm genuinely getting more fit and not that I had decided to do a track-style run, with no incline/declines, at 5.5km/h.

Yesterday was my least favourite day at the gym – mostly because I decided I wanted to try out the arc trainer, without really knowing how to use the arc trainer's settings and ended up on the run from hell for about five minutes, before I went over to my trusty treadmill.

Yesterday also served to piss me off at Rogers again. I called Apple, to see if I could get a tracking number for my replacement iPhone. They called Rogers to get the number and found out that Rogers had, for no documented reason, cancelled my iPhone order. So I ordered another one through Apple and it should be here by tomorrow, which is nice. The only downside being that it cost about $30 for shipping and they had to put a $720 hold on my credit card, until I send them back my original phone.

Anyway, I should go start off my day – class in about 45 minutes and then I've got a three hours break that I'll probably use for cleaning and working on my fair poster.

Breakfast: Half a pancake, sausage, mango yogurt, pineapple, home fries.

Lights Go Down

I think my room is single-handedly killing the world. The other night, I blew the power in my room (and my room alone), because I was using too much electricity. To be fair, it was completely and totally Jonathan's fault. Well, or mine. Depends on how you look at the situation. I'm pretty sure it all stemmed from Aaron, Jon, and I having the following appliances running: TV, DVD player, alarm clocks, laptop, fridge, lights, microwave (Jon was making Kraft Diner), and the kettle (I was making ramen). Kraft Dinner and ramen… my eating habits make me sound like a poster child for the Freshman Fifteen. Which, quite frankly, I am.

My new iPhone should be here on Monday or Tuesday, which will be nice. Wish I could track the shipping, though.

So what will be the up this weekend, you ask? Well, I'm not sure. I think Aaron and Jon and I may try to get some Six Feet Under in, at some point. We're also considering a a group dinner at Darrel's or something. Other than that, I think I'll mostly be working on my poster, reading, and maybe doing a tiny bit of shopping.

Damn All the Silent Movies!

Have you ever had to sit in a stuffy auditorium, watching a silent, black and white, pro-KKK movie… for three hours? Has the result of these three hours been that you know nothing about the narrative of the film and you need a new iPhone? Don't worry if you haven't, as I'm about to fill you in.

Yes, last night was my first screening for my Narrative in Cinema class. Luckily, it is the longest movie we'll be watching in the class, so I don't really need to worry about experiencing that kind of pain again. Well, except for The Thin Red Line, but that's about fifteen minutes shorter.

Yes, Birth of a Nation is one of the most painful film experiences ever. Mostly because I know it's just such a watershed in cinema and I just hate it. It's three hours of Griffiths trying to convince us that black people are evil. In the end, the Klan rides in on horses, shooting black people, while "Ride of the Valkyries" blares.

What's even worse is that I went into the movie with a complete iPhone. I left, however, with an iPhone that was missing its silent ring button. It happened when I went to take the case off it, just for fun. Never do that in the dark.

So, this morning, I walked down to the Rogers store and they told me that they couldn't do anything and that I would need to call tech support. So I did and they are going to send me another phone, free of charge, assuming that I return my phone. Blargh. Oy, I'm tired.
